As the year 2023 comes to an end lets get rid of some old things. . .
Usually this time of year brings many people into a moment of reflection of things that they would like to change or leave behind. The list usually consists of losing weight, no longer smoking, drinking, traveling, etc. But recently I listened to a sermon in which the Pastor stated that 2024 would be the year of government. When he spoke of government he was speaking not of the worlds but of God's government which all Christians should be aligned with. Christians are held to a higher standard because we are the priest of this generation. Let us not be consumed with worldly or selfish desires for the new year. Let us be consumed by aligning ourselves with the Kingdom of God.
Here's a short list of things I felt the Lord was saying to leave behind in 2023:
UNACCOUNTABILITY: Lets hold each other accountable, let us not be afraid to call each other higher or to be called higher. No longer will we allow bad company to corrupt our good character, no longer will we allow friendships to blossom only because our ego is stroked.
Hebrews 10:25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
A PRAYERLESS LIFE : Living a life without prayer, means living a life with no communication with God. How can we call ourselves followers of Jesus, yet we are unlike him? Jesus always spent time with the Father. Be encouraged to live a prayerFULL life.
Luke 3:21-22 Now when all the people were baptized, and when Jesus also had been baptized and was praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, "You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased."
Luke 6:12 One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.
